Project Details

PinePac widened its scope and ventured into Indonesia, becoming the first Malaysian company to invest in Kabupaten Sintang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, via the acquisition of controlling interest stake in Pinehill Ventures.

Pinehill Ventures is the holding company of PT Makmur Jaya Malindo which has three subsidiaries namely PT Inma Jaya Group, PT Inma Makmur Lestari, PT Indomal Sawit Jaya. Collectively, PT Makmur Jaya Malindo group of companies have obtained the permit to plant oil palm on approximately 21,000 hectares of land in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The Indonesian properties are situated in the north western section of West Kalimantan at close proximity to the borders of East Malaysia and Indonesia. It is about 4 hours from Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. A border crossing between these 2 countries opened in October 2012 with CIQ facilities (Customs, Immigration & Quarantine) located in Lubok Antu, Sarawak and Badau-Putussibau, West Kalimantan. With this border crossing, it can facilitate a shorter traveling time to our property in PT Makmur Jaya Malindo which is approximately 100 km. Hence, giving us additional points of entry to our estates apart from Tebedu (Sarawak) and Entikong (Indonesia).

As at to date, we have planted 8,000 hectares with oil palm with a plasma component (small holders) which benefits the local. We have constructed roads and other infrastructures to connect the four estates internally. This has given an advantage to the company in facilitating traveling and crop delivery from one estate to another. Presently, the crops that are harvested are sold to a mill in the vicinity.

The group implements measures to maintain a healthy ecosystem and working towards the full compliance with the Indonesian government and its Ministry of Agriculture in obtaining Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification. We are looking to holistically address the environmental issues plaguing the palm oil industry by improving the competitiveness in the global market. We are also looking to obtain the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) international certification which incorporates sustainability criteria such as greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable use of land, protection of natural biospheres and social sustainability. ISCC is a member of the UN Global Compact and supports other major international initiatives advocating sustainable supply chains. In addition, Pinehill Ventures is committed to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification in which we are also joining as a member of the RSPO. This assures our customers that the standard of palm oil production is sustainable. The benefits include reduced emission of greenhouse gases, better waste management, reduced usage of pesticides, improved compliance with regulatory requirements, reduction of workplace accidents, and enhanced productivity.

The group also actively participates in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by contributing to schools, mosques and churches. We believe in social responsibility and improving the communities within the development area.
